The Poster Child Of Morphostasis
Poster Child is a series of oil paintings on canvas. Using the standard proportions of posters for advertisement, I reproduced a series of digital compositions using a similar vocabulary of pipe and hose images, clipart icons and liquid splashes in a range of interior design color palette. My focus of this series was to treat the pipe and hose images as if it were a standard decorative element the same way the paintings are treated themselves as standard decorative elements. Working with the depthlessness of the serial paintings, I am interested in exploring the limits of the ornamental as a site of reproduction against the imperative of meaning production. The mere surface of the paintings becomes the expression of the pipes as vessels, themselves desubjugated from their function : “to carry”. This work is part of a larger research and experimentations I have undergone with images of tubes and hose collected over the years.
